Meeting at clients house

To identify strengths and weaknesses so as a sports psychologist I can work on a training programme for the client.

Beneficial for performer as I can found out what his areas for improvements are and then make a plan for him to improve these.

Imagery standing on Rothley tennis court.

I will be asking James to imagine himself on this court playing at his full potential and hitting baseline shots which are unstoppable to hit back and standing on the tennis courts will make it more realistic to imagine.

This will benefit James by raising his confidence in his own ability; he must also make sure that he has positive images throughout as negative can hinder the imagery progress.

Imagery Script at James House

I have chosen to do imagery script in order to make sure the images are realistic and to also write up a plan on how we are going to make sure the images are going to succeed.

Imagery script will make sure that James images are realistic and are positive on the mind for relaxation and confidence building

Setting goals at James house

As James struggles to find optimum arousal during match situations, goal setting will help him find this and also improve his performance.

Help him find his optimum arousal so that he can play at high standard of performance.

Going over goal setting and the importance of them being smart goals.

This will make sure the goals are:

·         Measurable
·         Achievable
·         Realistic
·         Time based

Important to be a smart goal so James can develop the goal or advance and progress if the goal is achieved.

De -Brief

De-brief to cover imagery and goal setting and to make sure the psychological training programme is agreed with the client.
Making sure the client agrees and understands the training programme will create a bond between me and the client which then we can run through the training programme without any problems.
